               Software New Hampshire Conference
In this month's envelope we are including a flyer about
the Software New Hampshire conference, to be held on October 4
at the Sheraton Tara in Nashua, NH. Refer to this flyer about
details; those of you who are billed by email won't be getting
the flyer, but you can send mail to softwarenh@mv.mv.com to get
an autoreply with the latest schedule and information about
this show. The organizing committee thought the event would be
of interest to many of our customers, and they asked us to
enclose the brochures for you.

In fact, MV will have a booth at the show, and we look
forward to seeing any of you who drop by.

New MV locations: Concord and Dover

MV Communications will be opening nodes in Concord NH and
in Dover NH, providing online accounts, UUCP connections, and
SLIP/PPP access to those areas. Both of these sites will be
open for testing at the end of September 1994, and officially
open on October 1.
The Concord site results from a venture between MV and
MedNet Services, Inc., and will be located in Concord Hospital.
This site will be connected to our Litchfield office via a T1
data line. The Dover site is being deployed in cooperation
with Virgin Software, Ltd., and Egg Clearinghouse, Inc. Dover
will initially be connected to Litchfield via a 56KB data line
and will offer shell and UUCP access, with SLIP/PPP to follow.

An account will be located in a particular facility - that
is, an account will have a "home" of Concord, Dover, or Litch-
field, depending on which is local for you. However you will
be able to access an online account through any facility should
you, for example, find yourself in Nashua but need to access
your account in Concord.

                           Staffing

As announced in the mv.forum.general newsgroup, Anne Crab-
tree (wicca@mv.mv.com) has joined our staff to help out with
support issues. You may find that you are talking to her on
the telephone or via the mv-admin email address. Note that our
office hours are 9 to 5 weekdays, though you may well find
someone there outside those hours as well.

About the last bill, and this bill

In a few of the bills we sent last time, covering the
May/June usage, there was an error in the total, not matching
the total of the line items listed. This had to do with the
fact that we bill for the next month's minimum, and compensate
for that billed-ahead amount the next month. In this case the
billing period covered two months, and when there was a varia-
tion in the monthly minimum over the two month period the com-
pensation was not listed correctly. It was, however, recorded
correctly in our journals, and will be reflected correctly in
our reckoning of your account balance.
Also, this bill also covers a two-month period (July and
August). Because of the number of new things we've been intro-
ducing, the billing process has been slowed down somewhat.

              Dialup IP time allocation increased
As of August 1, we increased the time allotment for the
"occasional IP" accounts. The rate for occasional IP is $25
per month, including 25 hours of connect time, with additional
connect time charged at $1.50/hour. Prior to August 1, the
time allotment for the $25/mo charge was 15 hours.

Through an IP account (occasional or full-time) you can
connect your computer directly to the Internet using either
SLIP or PPP protocols over a dial up modem. This gives you the
ability to run your own software such as Mosaic, FTP, Gopher,
mail, and news on your own system using your native interface
(e.g. MS Windows, Macintosh, or X Windows).

                     Question of the Month

Last month we asked how MV could support special
events. Thanks to those of you who responded.
Some suggested keeping a topical archive on MV, accessi-
ble via WWW or FTP. Others suggested just keeping links in a
special place on MV. There was a creative suggestion to
notify everyone, perhaps on login, of the interesting refer-
ences, and provide an automatic method for saving the "book-
marks". There was a plea for sanity reminding us that not
everyone can use all we have to offer today.

This month's question:
Are you aware of the newsgroup nh.general? Would
you like to see any more New Hampshire newsgroups? What
     ones?

Please email your answers to mv-qotm@mv.mv.com.
